So Many Things…

Worst blogger of the year goes to… me!  Holy smokes we’ve been so busy, and I’ve been so lazy, I haven’t blogged about any of it.  So here comes just a LARGE sum up of what has been going on…

September:  We went up to the cabin with the whole family for a little getaway.  How cute are these cousins?!

We threw a shower for our newest sister in law, Lauren!  Look at that fabulous cake Rebecca made!

Miss Ellie had her first shopping cart ride sitting in the seat, and learned to make some new faces

Easton’s school had a carnival.  The boys favorite thing was this lizard obstacle course thing.  It was basically the only thing they did.I did pull them away long enough for a little train ride and some cotton candy.

And our house got framed. Whoop!We stop by the house nearly everyday to see what’s new, and the first thing the boys do is run to the soon to be back yard, where there is the most giant mound of dirt.  They climb up it.  They slide down.  They roll down.  They throw dirt up in the air.  They stuff dirt in their shoes.  Every. Day.  Do you have a good visual?  It’s like every little boy’s dream, and every mother’s worst nightmare.

October:

Easton got his first loose toothThen he lost it, at school, eating a pear. (10/25/2012)And got his first golden dollar from the Tooth Fairy!

Uncle Jesse has been trying real hard to make sure Ellie likes him the best.  So far so good.

The Family Softball team ended its season. (side note: right after I took this picture, a ball was flying straight for my head. This entire team was yelling at me to look out. I ducked and it barely missed me, so I say thank you to this crew for saving my life! But really, I wish I had it on video…literally, they were all screaming at me.)Now that Ellie’s hair fits into pig tails, she has some pretty wild hair in the mornings.But loves bath time in the big tub.Easton had a bring “Grands” to lunch day.  Both grandmas came!

But the big deal this month was Brad and Lauren tied the knot.  Super great day!I just can’t get enough of these cute cousins!Doesn’t this couple look so great with 8 kids all under the age of 6?!  I think so.  Definitely a look into the future.

Then, we took a little trip to the zoo with some friends.

And last but not least, Ace got started on the exterior of our house.  It went from this:To This:Just waiting on the stone!Plus, my kitchen is in, and we have power!

Whew! I commend anyone who made it this far through this gargantuan post!  I will try to stay on top of blogging our adventures…but for now, I’m off to have some chocolate.

The Confessions of a First-Grader

Easton: "Mom.  I need to tell you something."

Me:  "Okay. What?"

Easton:  "Well, I have a girlfriend."

Me:  "Oh really?! Wow. What's her name?"

Easton: {long pause} "Uhhh...I can't remember.  BUT, she is beautiful!"

Me: "Well, that's pretty great, but is she nice?  It's important that she is nice too."

Easton: "Oh yeah!  She is nice....but she is wwwaaaaaayyyyyy beautiful!"

Me:  "And, you should probably find out what her name is since she is your girlfriend and all..."

Easton came home from school the next day, and proudly announced that his beautiful girlfriend's name is, Millie.

1st Grade for Easton!

**UPDATE** I, so foolishly, forgot to mention that my brother, Jesse also attended this elementary school for his 5th and 6th grade years, and thoroughly enjoyed it.  I apologize profusely to Jesse that I would ever make such a ridiculous mistake.  Really.  I mean it. From the bottom of my heart.

I just feel like everything is going by so fast!  Getting Easton ready for 1st grade made me realize that for the last 6.5 years,  Easton has spent most of his waking hours with me.  And now he is spending that time at school…it’s weird! 

Since we are staying with my mom in Orem for the next little bit while our house is being built, Easton gets to go to the same elementary school that my sister, Lauren went to, and the same school I did some student teaching at.  I requested Mrs. Whitaker for him, who was the teacher I student taught with, and who Lauren had.  Easton didn’t seem to care much about that…he is more thrilled with the fact that he gets to take the bus everyday by himself, and have lunch at school, but it makes me happy that I know his teacher is awesome.I’m a bit of a worry wart, and him riding the bus by himself just freaks me out a little…I worry he’ll get off on the wrong stop, or some big kid will be mean to him, or he will be mean to a littler kid, or he gets on the wrong bus, etc. etc. etc. see, I worry.  A lot.  So on the first day, I took him to school just to show him where everything was.  When I came to pick him up from school, he was already in line to board his CORRECT bus with his friends…and told me he wanted to ride the bus home *tear*.  So he did, and loved it. Cookies and milk tradition.

A Park City Weekend

Ace’s birthday and our 8th wedding anniversary was this last week.  And since it was the last week before Easton started school, Ace decided to take the whole week off from work.  It was a real treat having him home, and not feeling like we had to be anywhere for anything.

Then, for Ace’s birthday, the boys and I made Ace a shirt designed to get the kids to scratch his back with cars…it worked marvelously.  We went to dinner, and had cake.  What more could you ask for?

Oh, maybe a weekend in an awesome hotel…for free?  Sure.

My dad got us a place at the Escala Lodge in Park City.  The best.  The owner, Claudia, treats us like celebrities every time we go.  We got passes to on the gondola ride, the boys were in heaven!This is when we started going.  They were screaming like we were on a roller coasterEllie just chilled in the stroller the whole ride.

We did some swimming…It was Ellie’s first time in the pool.  She loved every bit of it….Especially the splashing part.

Then, Awesome Aunt Mandy and Uncle James offered to take the boys for the rest of the weekend for our anniversary.  So, we invited them up to swim, and then they took the boys home…leaving us with only one child.  I mean, piece. of. cake.Corbin and Easton.  Best Cousins.

It was a fabulous weekend! Thanks dad for getting us the place, and thanks to Mandy and James for taking our crazy boys (they even took all 5 kids to church!)  That deserves a huge round of applause!
